About Me

I am an emerging, new-generation Vietnamese-Canadian female Playwright based in Tkaronto. I recently graduated of Theatre and Performance Studies, Playwriting and East Asian Studies at York University. I have previously participated in stage readings, such as: “COVID Confessions (Convergence Theatre),” “Fresh Ink (Soulpepper Theatre),” “Telling Tales Out of School (York University),” “The Ashley Plays: Mother Tongue (York University),” and was a member of the Young Playwright’s Unit at Tarragon Theatre. I have completed the Artreprenreur program with the York Arts Council, Theatre Entrepreneurs’ Network & Training (TENT) with the Toronto Fringe Festival, and have published an archive book on fu-Gen Asian Canadian Theatre Company through York University. My play “My Korean Canadian Friend” was recently developed at the Digital Toronto Fringe Festival where I won the “Digital New Play Contest” and “Primetime Series Audience Choice Award”.

My writing is centred on creating characters that are reflective of our diverse and cultured communities, to explore socially relevant subjects and themes, and to encourage a meaningful dialogue between our communities. My work is rooted in the lack of representation in the media that authentically depicts the Asian community. I am inspired to create narratives that will resonate within the Asian community by representing their culture, showcasing their rich history, and speaking authentically from their experience.

I acknowledge and extend gratitude to the original caretakers of this land: Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat.
